Christmas Eve

Every year after I graduated from high school I try to make Christmas meaningful. It keeps getting harder and harder. Being a Catholic and a choirist in high school was what made it special, and now I'm neither of those things.

This year I'm not trying as hard. I've watched a few movies, and been listening to the music a lot. But I realize there is no use in forcing values into something. I have a lot in life to be thankful for, and it would be wrong to let a lonely holiday keep me from being content and grateful.

There are things I still enjoy. I still love the music, though not as much. I still love going to the annual caroling party at my friend Nick's house and reuniting with my high school friends. The funny thing is that some people get together with special people in their lives on the holiday. The holiday is the only time when I don't get to see the special people in my life. I can't wait to get back to my life.
